0915 Welcome ? [[:File:///C:/Documents20and20Settings/eleborgne/My20Documents/__Useful20info/Blogging20amp20tweeting/_Blogging.doc_msocom_1 [I1]]](State Minister for Agriculture) and /or Solomon Assefa (Director EIAR)? Shirley Tarawali, ILRI Hezron Mogaka, ASARECA? 1030 The Dublin Process: International research efforts and the CAADP agenda Tom Arnold, CGIAR Consortium Board; Jeff Hill, USAID, Dublin Process Steering Committee. Need to confirm

1100 Research on sustainable intensification in the CGIAR Research Programs Iain Wright, ILRI. [[:File:/C:/Documents20and20Settings/eleborgne/My20Documents/__Useful20info/Blogging20amp20tweeting/_Blogging.doc_msocom_3 [I3]]]. This would include CRPs (1.1, 1.2 and 5… maybe others… 3.x and 3.7…?) ??? LIVES, SLP work…. Not sure…..//

1130 Group discussions: Suggest a format that allows short “buzz groups” on what has been presented. Or maybe a session with those “spectra” of everyone lining up and saying why they are where…..

1200 Feedback/plenary discussion Depending how the previous slot is organized….

1230 Lunch

1330 Presentation of the concept note A panel discussion or some other interesting format to get across the key elements of what is proposed…

1445 Break

1500 Key development (and research?) initiatives with synergies with the new project

Here we need to be imaginative… we have representatives of a diversity of initiatives and need to provide an opportunity for everyone to learn about these, especially in relation to the potential synergies with the project we are discussing…. Maybe the bees and flowers (or whatever it was?)… Need to decide rather quickly because we need to give instructions. My count of who could be “presenting” here, which I’ve tried to cluster….:

National/regional research: EIAR? Maybe not as they are in the core group ASARECA?

Tuesday 31st January

0830 Recap and setting the scene for the day’s work; Q and A… Feedback from blog? Highlights from yesterday’s work…….. organization of groups around key issues to discuss expectations from this project. This could include WHAT – research outputs that will be important in relation to these various other initiatives and well as HOW – what are the key opportunities and processes to ensure dialogue continues and outputs are usable, accessible etc… We might want to pre-organise the group leaders and composition? Probably good to have a copy (or summary) of the CN for each group, appropriate resource persons etc….

0930 Working group discussions (Break available 1000-1030hrs)

1230 Lunch

1400 Feedback from working groups

1500 Break

0830 Recap of lessons from first two days discussions [[:File:///C:/Documents20and20Settings/eleborgne/My20Documents/__Useful20info/Blogging20amp20tweeting/_Blogging.doc_msocom_5 [I5]]]

0900 Key elements of proposal - discussion and agreement on these Probably something like refining the hypotheses, objectives and outputs?

1000 Break

1030 Key drivers of site selection Based on the hypotheses agree on key drivers of intensification that will allow us to set up a gradient and test these…

1100 “live GIS” for site selection An, Dave and Stan have data layers….

1230 Lunch

1400 Key research outputs in sites Once we have the combination of outputs and sites it should be possible to be more precise for each site on what the outputs look like – for example, in a maize-dairy area, the combinations of technologies to be tested need to relate to these priority enterprises….

1500 Break

1530 Summary, conclusions, preparation for Thursday Keep everyone on board… where have we got to and what we need to do….

1700 Closing

Thursday 2nd February

0830 Designing project activities, roles, timelines, milestones…. (“logframe”) (Break available 1000-1030hrs) Based on the agreed outputs, and sites, what are the activities (in 2012 I guess) that will be implemented on the ground, etc… who takes responsibility for these…. Need to make sure we keep an “integrated” approach….not having each centre/partner having their own set up in each location etc 1230 Lunch

1400 Principles for budget development Budgeting in this group is not possible, but we need to agree on principles, based on what will have been discussed earlier in the day etc, and a time frame by when budget drafts will be sent for collation, a process for revision etc (because its bound to be too much initially!)

1500 Break

1530 Monitoring and evaluation plans Stan Wood, IFPRI

1630 Next steps, time frame

1700 Closing
